Prevention and reduction of nuclear and radiological risks and vulnerabilities
The scope of this activity is
The specific objectives are:
- A1.1Enhancement of the use of industry and regulatory experience feedback and international standards in the development of nuclear safety regulatory requirements and guidance;
- A1.2 Enhancement of CNCAN regulatory review and assessment capabilities in the area of nuclear and radiological safety;
- A1.3 Enhancement of the CNCAN regulatory inspection program for nuclear installations;
- A1.4 Enhancement of the organizational basis for a healthy nuclear safety culture;
- A1.5 Enhancement of regulatory capabilities for the regulation, review and assessment, licensing and inspection of radiological installations and radiation;
Specific activities provided:
- Exchange of international experience, organizing specific training courses, improvement of infrastructure by acquisition of codes and standards and development of nuclear safety specific guides and regulations;
- Exchange of international experience and organizing specific training courses in the area of nuclear safety analysis and the use of computer codes for nuclear safety analysis as well as the development of good practice guides to improve CNCAN's review and assessment capabilities in the area of nuclear safety for nuclear installations;
- Technical meetings for completing the set of specific guides and procedures for inspections, developing specific training materials, improving review capabilities and making more effective the use of lessons learned from nuclear or radiological events;
- Developing guides on nuclear safety culture and on leadership and management for nuclear safety, organizing joint training sessions for regulatory and industry organizations;
- Technical meetings for preparing regulatory requirements for radiological installations and radiation sources used for medical applications and improving CNCAN's regulatory capabilities for the regulation, review and assessment, licensing and inspection of these facilities and sources.
The results of Activity 1 will consist of:
The enhancement of the use of industry and regulatory feedback experience in the development of nuclear safety regulatory requirements and guidance;
- The enhancement of regulatory review and assessment capabilities in the area of nuclear and radiological safety;
- The enhancement of the CNCAN regulatory inspection program for nuclear and radiological installations through training of staff;
- An improved regulatory, licensing and control framework through development / updating of 25 specific documents (regulations, good practice guides or internal procedures);
- Improved professional qualifications and skills of approx. 80 professional staff in the nuclear field by participating in specific training courses, workshops, scientific visits or technical meetings;
- Participants at experience exchange events, including trainig courses, workshops, technical meetings, consultancy meetings and scientific visits, of aprox. 30.
The main beneficiaries of this activity are CNCAN and licensee staff.
